The aim of the Pretenders is to disguise themselves as crew members and then kill all of them without being detected. The Pretender will be given a list of false missions to complete in a short time if he does not want to be identified by the crew. This can be done by destroying the ship's facilities to lure the crew into doing the mission alone and then killing them. To create an alibi, the pretender can simply report the crime for all players to attend a group meeting to vote for the person most suspected, with the person with the most votes turning into a ghost with immediate death.

The crew must complete repairs before the countdown ends, otherwise all crew members will die and the game will end. By completing the repairs and finding all the pretenders, the crew will win. If a crew member is accidentally killed by a pretender, they will become a ghost. After turning into a ghost, the player will gain the ability to walk through walls, but will have a limited range of movement. Ghosts can assist their teammates in their missions or perform sabotage.

The game also allows players to create a special character by choosing their character's costume, skin, hat, etc. according to their preference.
